Leak Testing
Leaks in pressurized equipment are usually referred to as Fugitive emissions. These are emissions of gases or vapours due to leaks and other unintended or irregular releases of gases. These leaks could turn out into huge economic losses, fugitive emissions contribute to air pollution and some vapours present a potential hazard to human health and safety.
Valves, flanges, gaskets and fittings can be tested for fugitive emission in one of our test bunkers by well-trained test engineers.
These components can be tested at different temperatures with helium or methane test gas, using the sniffing or vacuum method according to recognised international standards or can be designed to our customer’s own specifications to ensure application suitability.
At Vibrant NDT Services, Chennai, we are equipped with the latest leak detectors and accessories to conduct this testing efficiently. We have a team to conduct Fugitive Emission testing all over India and a dedicated Fugitive Emission Testing team in the Middle East.
Examples of Fugitive Emissions valve standards:
- Production test: ISO 15848-2, Shell SPE 77/312 (carried out at room temperature)
- Type Testing: ISO 15848-1, API 624, API 641, API 622, TA-Luft – VD 2440 (test temperatures: room temperature, elevated and/or reduced temperature)
